San Juan Capistrano Area Description
United States Census Bureau’s certified results for the year 2000 reveal that San Juan Capistrano City’s population sum up to 33,945. Out of the total populace, 25,435 inhabitants are aged 16 years old and over, 13,138 of which are females. Residents aging 25 years and above make up a total of 21,758. It is also indicated that there are 4,175 individuals who reached 65 years of age who are residing in this city.
San Juan Capistrano City of California has a sum of 9,981 enrollees, 4.2 % of which are in Kindergarten; 8.2 % are in Nursery school, preschool; 18.6 % are in College or graduate school; 22.1 % are in High school (grades 9-12); and the largest percentage which is 46.9 % are in Elementary school (grades 1-8). There are only 765 families earning $200,000 or more; 485 families has an income of $150,000 to $199,999; 1,245 families produced $100,000 to $149,999; 1,269 families earn $75,000 to $99,999; 1,885 families has $50,000 to $74,999; 969 families earn $35,000 to $49,999; 834 families earn $25,000 to $34,999; 497 families earn $15,000 to $24,999; 203 families earn $10,000 to $14,999; and 147 has an income of only less than $10,000.
As of 1999, the U.S. Census Bureau results reveal that San Juan Capistrano City, California has 10,982 households. The majority of these households, or roughly 21.6 % has an income of between $50,000 to $74,999; only 7.8 % earn $200,000 or more; 4.9 % earn between $150,000 to $199,999; 13.1 % earn between $100,000 to $149,999; 14.8 % earn between $75,000 to $99,999; 12.9 % earn between $35,000 to $49,999; 10 % earn between $25,000 to $34,999; 7.6 % earn between $15,000 to $24,999; 3.4 % earn between $10,000 to $14,999; and 3.8 % earn only less than $10,000. San Juan Capistrano City has $ 62,392 as its median household income for the year 1999.
Concerning poverty level, about 549 families, 87 families with female householder with no husband present, and 3,566 individuals are classified as below the poverty level in the year 1999. Out of the 549 families, 467 has related children under 18 years old and 378 has related children less than 5 years of age.
The housing units that the city has based on the 2000 U.S. Census results total to 11,335, 5,738 of which are 1-unit detached; 2,398 are 1-unit attached; 1,721 are multiple housing units; and 1,460 are mobile homes. It is sometime in 1970 to 1979 when the largest percentage of housing units which is 52 % are established while from 1999 to March 2000, only 207 housing units are constructed.
About 10,956 housing units are occupied out of the total housing units built and there are at least 231 vacant units. Out of the 10,956 occupied housing units, more or less 6,637 units are owner-occupied and approximately 2,288 units are renter-occupied. Nearly 63 vacant housing units are for sale while the remaining 168 units are for rent.
Out of the 6,637 owner-occupied housing units, 5,508 are mortgage while 1,129 units are without a mortgage. There are 35.3 % of the total homeowners has a monthly mortgage cost between $2,000 or more. The city has $ 1,782 as its median monthly mortgage cost.
As for the renter-occupied units, 16.1 % has a gross rent of $1,500 or more; 32.3 % has a gross rent between $1,000 to $1,499; 32 % has a gross rent between $750 to $999; 11.1 % has a gross rent between $500 to $749; 3.3 % has a gross rent between $300 to $499; 0.3 % has a gross rent between $200 to $299; 0.7 % has a gross rent of less than $200; and 4.2 % has no cast rent. The median gross rent is $ 1,006.
The vacant housing units for sale don’t go below $150,000. Most of the units cost $1,000,000 or more while there are only 4 units sold between $150,000 to $174,999. The median price asked is $ 541,700. The “for rent” vacant housing units has a median rental fee of $ 743. None of these vacant-for-rent housing units are priced below $600 or above $ 2,000. About 38.7 % are for rent between $650 to $699; 24.4 % are for rent between $1,000 to $1,499; 15.5 % are for rent between $1,500 to $1,999; 13.1 % are for rent between $700 to $749; and 8.3 % are for rent between $900 to $999.
Private businesses took a share of 77.6 % of the total employment according to the U.S. Census Bureau results in the year 2000; 11.8 % are self-employed workers; 10.2 % are Government workers; and 0.3 % are labeled as unpaid family workers.
Out of the 14,815 employed civilians in San Juan Capistrano City, 35.2 % has management, professional, and related occupations; 29.8 % has sales and office occupations; 16.6 % has service occupations; 9.2 % has production, transportation, and material moving occupations; 8.6 % has construction, extraction, and maintenance occupations; and 0.7 % has farming, fishing, and forestry occupations.
As records have shown, most of the employed residents of San Juan Capistrano City are in the professional, scientific, management, administrative and site management services. The males who worked full-time all year round has median earnings of $ 47,574, while the full-time females who worked all year round has $ 34,821 as their median earnings.
