Victorville Area Description

Victorville city, according to the US Bureau of Census has a population of 64,516.And it's located in Victor Valley of western San Bernardino County, California, USA.Of the city’s total population, 44,294 belonged to 16 years and above, of which, 23,739 are female.36,777 city residents are aged 25 years and above. And based on the US census, there are 7,088 residents that are at least 65 years and above.

According to the same US survey, there are 21,293 students in Victorville, 4.3% from nursery, and pre-school; 6% from kindergarten; 51.1% from elementary school (grades 1-8); 21.4% from high school (grades 9-12); 17.2% college or graduate school. About 29.6% of Victorville's population aged 25 and above are high school graduates; and 6.9% has Bachelor's degree.

The City of Victorville has a labor force of 24,294 for its population 16 years and above. And out of that number 22,385 are employed, and 2, 468 are unemployed. About 11,241 female 16 years old and over are in labor force and about 9,872 of them are employed.

According to the 2000 Census results, there are 16,073 families in Victorville. And 1,470 of these families have earnings of less than $10,000; 1,052 have earnings of $10,000 to $14,999; 2,169 have earnings of $15,000 to $24,999; 2,214 have earnings of $25,000 to $34,999; 3,754 have earnings of $50,000 to $74,999; while only 22 families have earnings of $200,000 or more and the median family income is $39,988.

Records of the US Census also show that there are 21,041 households in Victorville. Out of the total number of households, 0.3% have earned $200,000 or more; 0.7% have earned $150,000 to $199,999; 4.3% had earned $100,000 to $149,999; 8.4% had earned $75,000 to $99,999; 21.2% have an earning of $50,000 to $74,999; 16.9% have an earning of $35,000 to $49,999; and only 11% have an earning of less than $10,000.While the median income of the households in Victorville is $36,187 in 1999.

There are about 2,462 families that fall below the poverty level in Victorville. And there are about 2,033 families that have children less than 18 years, and around 1,160 that have children under 5 years old.

Based on the US Census report, there are about 22,656 housing units in Victorville city 16,181 are single detached; 392 are single attached;4,314 multiple housing units and 1,723 mobile homes. And about 36.2% of the housing units are built around 1980 to 1989; around 7.8% are built around 19950 to 1998 but only 359 housing units are built in 1999 to March 2000.

And out of the total housing units, 21,040 are occupied, and 1,616 units are vacant. And out of the occupied housing units, 12,073 are specified owner occupied units, and about 7,372 are specified renter occupied units. As for the vacant housing units, 365 units are specified for sale only housing units. And around 654 are specified for rent housing units.

With regards to the owner of the occupied housing units, 10,291 have mortgage while 1,782 are not mortgaged. Around 4,235 homeowners have a monthly mortgage cost of $1,000 to $1,499 while the median monthly mortgage is $1,034.

As for the renter occupied units, 1.6% has a gross rent of less than $200; 2.9% has gross rent of $200 to $299; 26.5% has gross rent of $300 to $499; 40.7% has gross rent of $500 to $749; while only 1% has gross rent of $1,500. And the median gross rent is $584.

With regards to the for sale vacant housing units, 1.6% have an asking price of less than $20,000; 0.5% have an asking price of $20,000 to $24,999; 0.5% have an asking price of $25,000 to $29,999; 19.7% have an asking price of $90,000 to $99,999; while no vacant for sale housing units have an asking price of more than $150,000 to $174,000.And the median asking price is $89,700.

With regards to the for rent housing units 1.7% have a monthly rent of $150 to $199; 1.5% have a monthly rent of $200 to $249; 21.3$ have a rent of $400 to $499; 18.2% have a monthly rent of $450 to $499; while none have a monthly rent of more than $750 to $799, and the median monthly rent is $450.

Based on the same US Census, results said that 73% of the working populations are privately hired, 19.7% are government workers, and 6.9% are self employed, or worked on their own business. And 0.4% is classified as unpaid family workers.

While a good 27.2% of the working population who are at least 16 years old have sales and office occupations;25.6% have management, professional, and related occupations;18.95 have service occupations,16.25 have production, transportation, and material moving occupations,11.9% have construction, extraction, and maintenance occupations, and only 0.3% have farming, fishing, and forestry occupations.

In terms of industry, majority of the working populace in Victorville are into educational, health and social services.
